During the operations of the facility – since

January 1st, 2009 – the Hutnik KrakowMu-

nicipal Stadium has become a football arena,

meeting not only the licensing requirements

of the Polish Ekstraklasa league, but also in-

ternational standards, thanks to which it was

selected to be the training base for the Eng-

lish representation during 2012 UEFA Euro-

pean Championship. During the competition,

Krakow also hosted two other national teams

– the Dutch team trained at the Henryk Rey-

manMunicipal Stadium,and the Italian team

at the CracoviaMunicipal Stadium. The latter

facility will also be the arena for the European

U-21 Championship in 2017.

ZIS is consistently developing the sports

infrastructure in various districts of Krakow.

During these operations, the Board takes

advantage of the newest architectural, tech-

nical and technological solutions. A good

example of this is the water treatment and

filtration system for the indoor swimming

pool at the Prokocim Nowy housing es-

tate. Large savings in heating expenses are

guaranteed by the passive sports hall at the

Wysokie housing estate, which was opened

in 2014. At the Handlowe housing estate, an

indoor swimming pool is under construction,

which will be equipped with a state-of-the-

art moveable bottom system. The KS Orzeł

Piaski Wielkie sports hall stands out with its

functionality and sports field area.

TheMunicipality of Krakow and the Sports

InfrastructureManagement Board of Krakow

are continuing the construction and moderni-

sation of estate and school multi-functional

sports fields. Further sports facilities are un-

dergoing revitalisation.
