FIVBVolleyball World League
and the
IIHFWorld Championship Division I A in ice
hockey
, where the Polish team participated.
The TAURON Arena Kraków also hosted
a
Federation Cup tennis match between Po-
land and Russia
, which featured tennis stars
Agnieszka Radwańska andMaria Sharapova.
Also Marcin Gortat, who is the only Polish
player in the best basketball league in the
world, the NBA, loves the Krakow’s venue.
Each year, he organises the final events of
his camps for children and teenagers there,
with a showcase match between invited stars
and the Polish Armed Forces team.
In January 2016 Krakow became the Eu-
ropean handball capital by becoming the
most important city hosting the
EHF Eu-
ropean Men’s Handball Championship
. All
the matches of the Polish national team, as
well as the semifinals, 3rd place match and
the grand final of the competition are sched-
uled to take place in Krakow. In 2015, the
white-and-red team played several friendly
matches at the TAURON Arena Kraków be-
fore their start in the
EHF EURO 2016

With the opening
of the TAURON Arena Kraków in 2014, the capital of theMałopolska
Region gained the largest and the most modern sports and event venue in the country.
Thanks to this, theWawel gord can now host a multitude of large-scale sports events,
co-organised on behalf of the Municipality of Krakow by the Sports Infrastructure
Management Board of Krakow.
